Gail McHugh, Collide - Review

Gail McHugh : Collide

For nine years, they drift through life, unable to forget the one who holds the strings to their hearts. In an attempt to escape the pain of her past, Melanie finds herself trapped in a loveless marriage, while Daniel loses himself in a career that means nothing without Melanie by his side. Now, when their lives intersect, neither can deny the connection they felt so long ago. But will the power that drew them together be enough to heal the wounds from their past, and do they have the courage to overcome the insecurities and fears that threaten to keep them apart? Pulled is a story of attraction and separation, of destiny and duty, of a love so strong it refuses to give up even when all others have.

Firstly I want to say Thank you to Gail for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review :)

I just want to point out before the review that this book does contain a Love Triangle, I am usually not a fan of them but in certain books the author manages to get it right, and with this book Gail managed to achieve this. It didn't leave me wanting to yell at the female lead and scream in frustration instead it has a well balanced amount of lust and angst. You are able to feel the tension and emotions from the characters which stops you from pulling out your hair in frustration.

This book completely took me by surprise, and I loved it I was left glued to the pages and ignoring the world until I finished. I was drawn into Emily Coop's world and left needing to know ever detail of her life, and especially her interaction with a very hot and steamy Gavin Blake.

Attracting, compelling, colliding, their chemistry - to say the least - was explosive. He felt it the first time he laid eyes on her, the drawing of energy that radiated from her eyes as she stared into his.

Emily has recently Lost her mother and a fresh start is exactly what is needed, Deciding to follow her boyfriend Dillon to New York City Emily moved in with her best friend Olivia and takes a job working at a local restaurant, the last thing she expected to come across while doing a delivery was to come across a guy that could literally take her breath away. You can tell right away there is a huge connection just sizzling away between them, if sexual tension was sound the room would be deafening.

Emily deciding to keep Gavin at arms length gives him a fake name; Molly. But she does confess to already being in a relationship which of course he pays no attention to. How can you when you know there is something between you.

“Here's to bottle caps, the Yankees, and 'birds', and most of all"...he paused and lowered his voice to a whisper.." and, most of all to a beautiful girl named Molly who refuses to believe the man-the man who loves her more than she'll ever know”

Gavin has most certainly earned himself a space on my book boyfriend list, He just seems so darn attractive I can feel his sexiness radiating off the pages. I may have had to use my kindle to fan myself down once a while.

Dillon is what I would describe as a douche of a boyfriend, I can see why Emily was with him to a certain extent because he is what is familiar and he was there to help with her loss but at the same time he is a very manipulative person. You begin to want Emily to drop him with a click of her fingers and run into Gavin's amazing arms.

“ I've never felt so heartbroken and so in love at the same time. If you would've told me the day we met that you were going to break my heart— and that days, months, or even years would pass, that I would still be hurting like this—it wouldn't have stopped me from falling in love with you.”

The emotions in this book where built up and the characters didn't jump head first into everything, I think this made it more believable but also more likable. You where able to understand how Emily was feeling and not that she was some sex crazed women wanting to get into Gavin's pants . . . but then again I don't think anyone could be blamed for wanting to get into Gavin's pants.

“I want the late-night drives, the sunset watching, the screaming, the yelling, and the crying. I know I'll definitely want the make-up sex that comes after all of the screaming and crying. I want the good, the bad, and the in-between. All of it is what's going to make us amazing together.”

This was a book I was very excited to read, I had been following Gail's posts and teasers religiously and as soon as I got my ARC I couldn't wait to get stuck in. This book was beautifully written and I enjoyed seeing the interaction and flirtation between Emily and Gavin and most defiantly the steaminess *swoons* .

“Every part of you was made for me. Your lips were made to kiss mine, your eyes were made to wake up to me looking at you in my bed every morning, and your f***ing tongue was made to roll my name off of it. I am more certain of us than I'm certain that I require oxygen to breathe.”

This book also had one of my favorite things, alternative point of views. There is just something about them that gives a story a whole new dimension, I like being able to tell what the main characters are thinking without having to guess and being left in the dark.

This book is 100% a must read, this needs to be on your kindle pronto!

4.5/5 stars.
